Abstract

Background and Purpose: In today's era, livability is a global issue due to providing a high quality of life. The modernism movement and the current of globalization during the 14th century have influenced the development and evolution of Islamic cities, especially Islamic - Iranian cities. With the influence of western elements in Iranian cities, the nature and content of contemporary Iranian cities have undergone serious changes and affected the quality of life. Livability aims to increase livability in the city with the help of public open spaces, vibrant streets, landscaped squares, street furniture and various public facilities that help animate the neighborhood. Due to the importance of the quality of life in Iranian - Islamic cities, the purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between urban livability and the indicators of Iranian Islamic cities.
Methodology: The study population of the research is the available Persian studies in the period of 1390-1400. According to the many sources available about the Iranian Islamic city, the method of meta-synthesis of articles has been used. A total of 27 articles on the topic of Iranian-Islamic city and 29 articles on the topic of urban livability were selected. The research method in this research is qualitative and with the benefit of content analysis.
Findings and Discussion: The findings of this research show that urban livability and the Iranian Islamic city have many commonalities and are aligned with each other. Therefore, urban livability indicators can be used to improve the quality of life in Islamic Iranian cities. This requires that these indicators be localized first according to our geographical conditions, values and Islamic culture. In the Islamic city, all dimensions are interdependent. Economy is one of the important dimensions in the city, which overshadows other dimensions and creates a city without poverty and with economic justice, a city with social justice, and to put it more clearly, a city with a healthy economy will have healthy citizens. A healthy and Muslim citizen will create an Islamic city.
Conclusion: The characteristics of urban livability overlap with the characteristics of the Islamic Iranian city, and almost all the characteristics of urban livability are directly and indirectly expressed in the Holy Quran and hadiths. The findings show the indicators of the central neighborhood, the type of urban spaces, city texture, signs and symbols, spaces responsive to the needs of citizens, architecture compatible with the climate, housing, transportation, access, pedestrian orientation, orientation, human scale, enclosure, mixed use, neighborhood, diversity, efficiency, city administration, safety, beauty in the physical dimension and indicators of citizenship and neighborhood rights, comfort and peace, respect, humanism, identity, justice and equality, vitality, social freedom, security, participation, identity, justice and equality, social interaction ,vitality, balance, social trust, education, poverty alleviation, social cohesion and social legalities in the social dimension and indicators of economic justice, product production (consumer goods and investment) in the economic dimension and indicators of naturalism, cleanliness, health, reducing pollution, preserving the environment, the importance of water , light and illumination are the prevention of common pests, and indirect indicators without relation exist in the Holy Qur'an and hadiths.
