Abstract
Neighborhood self-sufficiency is a topic that has been in the spotlight in recent years, but the realities of the urban system show that in the shadow of the development of macro economies and mainly exchange; The socio-economic structure of the localities has also changed and even collapsed, such that dependent localities have replaced self-sufficient and self-sufficient localities, and the socio-economic independence of the localities is disappearing. Based on this, this research aims to investigate the level of self-sufficiency of a neighborhood in one of the old neighborhoods of Mashhad city (Mirah neighborhood) in economic and social dimensions. The research method is descriptive-analytical and its nature is applied-developmental. Data and information were collected by documentary and field methods, and descriptive averages and independent one-sample t-test were used in the data analysis. The sample size was 100 people and the sampling method was chosen non-randomly. The findings of the research show that in Sarab neighborhood, self-sufficiency in the economic dimension is much more favorable than the social dimension, and its average is 3.52 against 3.08, and the total average is estimated to be 3.30, which is considered favorable at the Nesita level. Finally, in order to increase the socio-economic self-sufficiency of the neighborhood, suggestions have been made such as increasing per capita social uses and supporting traditional businesses by the trustee institutions with the development and increase of permits and licenses.
